I've been looking at getting a keyboard with real mechanical keys for several months now. I went to Fry's and played around with the one mechanical keyboard they had there and found it to be too loud. Then I found the mecca reference guide on the subtle differences between keyboard switch types.
After a few more months of contemplation, I finally settled on the Daskeyboard Ultimate S, which has no markings on any of the keys; 1337. Even though it's the 'silent' model, it's still quite loud, but no fear, Das sells ear plugs for cube mates :). I'll probably just bring in a tub of OSHA orange ones.
Right after I ordered the keyboard, someone started buying a bunch of stuff on my credit card, so I'm tempted to believe that the site I bought it off of leaked... or someone stole my digits a while back and just waited a while. Regardless, this keyboard is totally worth the $1500 of disposable cell phones my alter ego purchased :).
Since I've never carried any sufficient balance, I've received a ton from their cash back program and now they're covering the ID theft bill, I must say Discover has been a wonderful group to work with ;).
So anyways, now I have this amazing tactile keyboard that makes other keyboards feel like they're floating in sand. I'm now one step closer to never needing a mouse.
